ST. JOSEPH’S ACADEMY IS ON ITS WAY TOWARDS ACCREDITATION
St. Joseph’s Academy is a Catholic, parochial school that goes beyond education but evangelization as well. It is one of the leading schools among members of DOPPSA (Diocese of Parañaque Parochial Schools Association). It is moving towards becoming an accredited institution of learning. Accreditation holds a prominent position within the range of resources available to students and employees in identifying, improving and evaluating quality education and training programs. At its best, accreditation is a means by which good schools and good practices are promoted, while students’ best interests and educational goals are protected. It is also a means to meet standards of excellence beyond the Department of Education’s minimum legal requirements.
In this regards, St. Joseph’s Academy‘s High School Department desires to evaluate its effectiveness as an institution and identify the extent to which it can sustain the standard it has set for its goals. Thus, the plan for accreditation was conceived.
Five years ago, sometime in 2003, St. Joseph’s Academy already attempted to apply for PAASCU Accreditation. Because of the change in administration, the idea was set aside for the meantime. With the blessing of Msgr. Albert A. Venus, our school director, the idea to push through with the application for accreditation was realized. After 93 years, with God’s grace, in case the school applies for accreditation, it will be a meaningful gift as the school celebrates its centennial year.
On June 17, 2008, we submitted our letter of intent for accreditation. On July 22, 2008, we became one of the Applicant Institutions. We are so thankful that PAASCU gave positive response to our letter. On August 17, 2009, we shall have our consultancy visit. On January 2010, we requested for the consultancy visit in the Grade School Department. Hopefully, everything will be okay.
